Safe, sustainable school travel
By harnessing the footpaths within Olveston to the south of Vicarage Lane, we’re making it easier for the community around Orchard Rise and Haw Lane to reach the school safely, quickly and conveniently. This means:
- More families can embrace walking, cycling, and scooting, fostering a healthier and more sustainable commute to school.
- With the new entrance closer to the village’s heart, we anticipate a significant reduction in school-run traffic at Elberton Road/The Street.
- As more parents and children opt for alternative modes of transportation via Vicarage Lane, we’re not just creating an entrance; we’re building pathways to a more vibrant, active, and connected community.
New pedestrian route
The existing wall is enhanced for modern convenience. We’re widening the existing opening to accommodate bicycles and scooters seamlessly, marrying the site’s rich heritage with contemporary modes of transportation. This thoughtful expansion ensures a harmonious blend of past and present, making the pathway accessible on foot or two wheels.
New secure cycle and scooter storage
Pupils can effortlessly park their bicycles and scooters in modern, secure storage facilities, promoting a greener, healthier commute. Beyond the storage facility, a new pathway will guide pupils on foot to the back of the school.
Part of our site could also be used for additional staff car parking to reduce pressure on staff parking within the school grounds.
